You will notice soon that the sand does not hold heat like most beaches. Made up of mostly quartz instead of crushed coral, it stays cooler. Even children will be able to play in it without burning their little feet. The shores tend to be shallow for a long way out, which allows for an ample area of play, or setting up the beach chairs right in. the water. Enjoy the tiny Coquina shells that line the shore like tiny pebbles. Until they dig back down and the silky sand covers over. The children love these little facets of nature as well as the entertaining shore birds.

Several hammocks adorn the shaded areas, as free spirit beach goers set up for comfort. For that true “Toes in the Sand” feel, prop your chair at the edge of the surf, for a refreshing splash tide rolls in. Many independent vendors are selling food, frozen drinks and even colorful braid ties, along the entrance area. The concessions are open quite late and offer much to eat and drink. Bring your Umbrella, Cabana, and sunscreen. With world travelers stopping here, you are sure to make friends with some interesting people. This expanse of Beach allows plenty of space for sunning, surfing, Frisbee, and much more. Pack a picnic or eat at the concession, you will not want to leave.

The main Pavilion offers Special needs chairs to transport a guest to their destination on the beach, and bring it back for the next person. Make sure they have a beach chair as these are only meant for transport. Come for the Drum Circle on Sunday evenings. Try your hand at dancing; join in on the drumming, or twirling baton, or hula hoops. Some regular attenders bring enough to share. Don’t be shy, give it a try. The easy going Island music is sure to draw you into the dance.
