The Central Gulf Coast isn’t just a great place to visit in March because of the wonderful spring weather—there’s also a month full of great activities and events!

Starting in mid-February and going through the end of March, spring training is going on for baseball teams.  These five teams are training within a short drive from our properties: The Pittsburgh Pirates, The Philadelphia Phillies, The New York Yankees, The Boston Orioles, and The Detroit Tigers. Here is our blog post with more information about spring training locations.

Circus Sarasota will celebrate their 20th anniversary of Big Top Performances this year from February 25 through March 5. This event presents professional performances that are world-renowned for their artistry and entertainment in a one-ring, five-star European-style big top tent. The Circus Arts Conservatory puts on this event as well as the Cirque des Voix, a unique and exhilarating performance featuring circus artists alongside a 100-voice Key Chorale and the Circus Orchestra. This year it will take place March 24-26. Visit the Circus Arts Conservatory page for tickets and more information here.

Less than 2 hours from most of our properties is Plant City—and it’s worth the trip for the annual Florida Strawberry Festival! It’s been bringing visitors from throughout the country and the world since 19130, but this year it will take place March 2-12. The highlight is the luscious local strawberries (more than 10,000 acres of strawberries are planted annually in the area), but there are exhibits of agriculture, commerce, industry, livestock, fine arts, horticulture, and crafts, along with social events, contests, entertainment, and parades! Visit the Florida Strawberry Festival website here.
