Congratulations! You have found one of the Florida Gulf Coast’s best-kept secrets: we’re always ready for fun and up for a good time.

How did you learn this secret? Because you made the brilliant decision to take a beach trip in January. Seriously, I’m not being sarcastic – this is a GREAT time to be at the beach.

Many people think that a beach vacation during the less popular travel months means a boring beach vacation. Those people would be wrong.

But you aren’t one of those people. Because you’re here! At the beach! In January!

And if you aren’t here, maybe you should be. And here’s why:

Manatee County Fair

You’re here just in time for the county fair! Hooray! Who doesn’t love a good county fair?

Our eleven day long fair is jam-packed with so many fun and fantastic events that you’ll never run out of something to do. There’s a Fair Queen Pageant AND a Baby Pageant, a Hay Bale Decorating Contest, Arts and Crafts Exhibitions, the “Best of the Best” of Manatee County recipes, Master Gardener Displays, Fair Food featuring everyone’s favorite: funnel cake, Live Stock shows, amusement park rides, and so much more!!

This is an amazing event for the whole family where you can really get a taste of local life in Manatee County.

Here are all the important details:

Sarasota Seafood & Music Festival

The best part of any vacation is the food, right? And the best part of a beach vacation is definitely the seafood.

So come on down and get the best of the best at the Sarasota Seafood & Music Festival! It’s three days of fresh and local seafood, good drinks, and Florida’s best music.

The festival also features a marketplace of fine arts, local products, and food. The Humane Society will even have a mobile animal adoption center, so really, this festival has EVERYTHING.

Admission is free, so what else do you need? This is a great local event to see and taste some of the best that Sarasota has to offer.

Dates and Times:

Friday 4 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Saturday 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Sunday 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Forks & Corks

If you’re still around at the end of the month, and not foodie-d out from the Seafood & Music Festival (and how could you be?), you’ll definitely want to make an appearance at Forks & Corks!

According to Eat Like a Local, this is Florida’s Finest Wine and Food Festival! So you definitely don’t want to miss this.

From January 25th to 27th, you can “enjoy numerous winemakers events ranging from upscale dinners to wine tastings and samplings.” And to top it all off? The Grand Tasting in The Ringling’s courtyard on the 27th.

There are various venues for all of these tasty events, so call 941-365-2800 for more details. Bon apétit!
