March Events on Anna Maria Island

Spring is here and the sky is sunny and beautiful. Flowers are in bloom and the beach breezes are perfect for romantic strolls and family fun. Relax and enjoy the best part of the vacation. When you are ready to enjoy some local festivals and entertainment, these are a few of our favorites.

The Island Players~ March 7 to the 24th, The Island Players Theater is on the North end of Anna Maria Island, features ” A Flea in Her Ear”. The antics of Woodland Raymonde, who believes her husband Victor Emmanuel has been unfaithful, so she hatches a scheme to catch him at a nearby hotel notorious for extramarital hanky-panky. The great French farce is full of mischief, mistaken identities and slamming doors in this new adaptation by David Ives. This quaint theater hosts local talent with seating up to 143. Spring Fest~Hosted by the Anna Maria Art League, boasting some of the best local art, jewelry, hand-

thrown pottery, sculping photography and more. Family events and kids booths featuring face painting and other hands-on activities. Live music, Raffles, community booths, and great food make it fun for all. Saturday, March 9th and 10th from 10 AM to 5:00 PM at the Holmes Beach City Hall Field at 5801 Marina Drive.

The Clydesales are Coming! Come out and enjoy the Budweiser Clydesdales as they parade around Holmes Beach. Starting at 4 pm at 5801 Marina Drive.

Music in the Park at the Riverwalk in Bradenton“Music in the Park is a popular event to the Riverwalk every Friday evening. What to Bring: Chairs, blankets, picnic baskets and dogs on leashes are welcome. This concert series happens every Friday through April 26, 2019, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m, at the Downtown Bradenton Riverwalk Mosaic Amphitheater. No charge for admission. Food is available for Purchase

Main Street Live. March 16 begins the most popular street party in Downtown Bradenton.

In Old Main Street (12th Street West) between Manatee and 3rd avenues closes to traffic as vendors and local food trucks line the streets while live music plays through the evening. The music plays from 6 p.m. until Midnight, featuring Have Gun, Will Travel w/ Openers HoneyWhat.

Robinson Preserves Tour~Stroll through the salt marshes with a Florida Master Gardener to learn

more about Florida’s native plants and what lives in this coastal habitat. This free tour is great for all ages. The trail consists of crushed shell paths with very little shade. Good walking shoes, drinking water, hat, and sunscreen are recommended. Call the Extension Master Gardeners at (941) 722-4524, ext. 1819 or 1820 to register. St.Patricks Day Parade ~ Hosted by the Beach Bistro, beginning at 4 pm at Marina and Gulf drive at Eat Here. Then it continues North along Palm Avenue to 78th St. in Holmes Beach. Enjoy a fine display of Decorated golf carts and floats, High school Marching bands, bagpipes, and even Camels. Call 941-778-6444 for more info.

Oldies Beach Dance Party~Bring your dancing shoes or just relax and enjoy a mix of oldies – from the ’50s, ’60s, swing, jazz, country and popular music – with Gulf Drive Duo and special guest Koko Ray. Sponsored by The Sandbar Restaurant and AMI Sun Newspaper. Proceeds benefit the Anna Maria Island Concert Chorus & Orchestra. Tickets: www.amicco.org or at the AMI Chamber of Commerce. Spring Training at Lecom Park~ you don’t have to love baseball to have a great day at the ball field. Lecom Park has upped their game with a top-notch Stadium. Easy access, with handicap features and the prices to make Big league Baseball affordable. Sit under the palm trees with ice-cold Yingling or your favorite refreshment. Every Friday Night is the Drum circle on Manatee Public beach, along with live music and Saturday mornings serve up all you can eat Pancake Breakfast. You may never need to go anywhere else. Have a great time.
