The Central Gulf Coast isn’t just a great place to visit in March because of the wonderful spring weather—there’s also a month full of great activities and events! March madness isn’t just for Basketball.
Starting in mid-February and going through the end of March, spring training is going on for baseball teams. These five teams are training within a short drive from our properties: The Pittsburgh Pirates, The Philadelphia Phillies, The New York Yankees, The Baltimore Orioles, and The Detroit Tigers. The Circus Arts Conservatory puts on the Cirque des Voix, (the Circus of Voices). This dynamic blended presentation of the musical and circus arts, unlike anything in the country, features the 100+ voices of Key Chorale, a full orchestra, and spellbinding circus acts. Best known for his work in collaboration with director Tim Burton, composer Danny Elfman created one of the most distinctive bodies of work in contemporary film music. His evocative music is showcased in this integrated homage to characters such as Batman, Beetlejuice, Spiderman, Edward Scissorhands, and even Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.. Plant City—hosts the annual Florida Strawberry Festival! Join this 11-day community event, March 1-11, celebrating the strawberry harvest of Eastern Hillsborough County. Each year, over 500,000 visitors enjoy the festival’s headlining entertainment, youth livestock shows, rides, exhibits of agriculture, commerce, industry, livestock, fine arts, horticulture, and crafts, along with social events, contests, and parades! The highlight is the luscious local strawberries (more than 10,000 acres of strawberries are planted annually in the area) serving fresh strawberry shortcake daily.
March 7-10, is the Annual Sarasota Jazz Festival will take place—it’s one of the sun coast’s most-anticipated events every year! It features jazz greats from all over the country—a schedule and ticketing information can be found here. March 7 is the Jazz Club Pub Crawl, Live Jazz from 6 -10 pm – downtown Sarasota. Performers and venues TBA. Hop on! Hop off! Trolleys at all stops.
Firestone’s Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Prepare for high speed action as 13 different races transform the streets of St. Petersburg into a national raceway. This Weekend event, features 3 days of non-stop activities for the whole family from March 9-11, 2018. If you’ll be in the area on March 24, come to Indian Rocks Beach for their Annual GreenFest! Eco-friendly vendors and nonprofit organizations will have exhibits on being kinder to the gorgeous environment around you. Local food, craft beers, wine, live music, and various local vendors are all on site for your enjoyment, plus a large interactive kids’ area with dancing, crafts, and a playground! From 10- 4
For another good old-fashioned family fair experience, check out the Annual Sarasota County Fair March 16-25. There are exhibits, Midway rides, and classic Americana fair food. My Hometown Beer Festival~ Join us for Southwest Florida’s biggest and best spring festival, featuring food, music, craft beer and fun for all ages.
Enjoy free samples of regional food favorites prepared by more than 40 of the area’s finest restaurants, free craft beer samples from around the country — including Southwest Florida’s own Big Top Brewing Company, Darwin Brewing Company and Taproom, Motorworks Brewing and Naughty Monk Brewery — and lots of great music from top local bands, including Twinkle and Rock Soul Radio and the Dr. Dave Band.
Plus, we’ll have plenty of family-friendly activities like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kids Zone, stand-up paddleboard and kayak demos and lots more!
