The streets of St. Pete are ready for the rumble as the Grand Prix sets up for this weekend’s racing. These formula 1 cars are among the fastest, reaching speeds of 220 mph. Open wheel Indy Cars with cockpit seating, lighter bodies, wheels on the outside of the frame and no fenders, making this type of racing much more dangerous. If cars were to bump tires the results could be catastrophic.
This 3 day event starts Friday, hosting 11 seperate races and packed full of family fun events.
Lining the the waterfront of downtown St. Petersburg, the street course segways from track to winding roads and back to the grandstands. Check the map for parking, Beer Garden, Pit info and more. Enjoy a week-long festival-like celebration(with rides), that includes the fastest racing series around, celebrity athletes, live entertainment and interactive activities and plenty of merchandise and food at the Fan Village. Meet the drivers, get autographs, take part in interactive games and exhibits and don’t miss the Speed Zone.

Open wheel racing with the Verizon IndyCar Series, offers some of the most challenging courses for these diverse professionals. Each town lends a new race style from, oval, straight aways to city streets. Every race poses and new challenges as the tracks are always changing.
The Mazda Road to Indy, with the most talented, up and coming newer drivers, earning their way to Indy driving seats. Featuring over 100 drivers competing, in a three race series including: Indy Lights , Pro Mazda Championship, and the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship, all presented by Cooper Tires.
The Pirelli World Challenge Championships With 3 classes of cars, from most powerful to least powerful, include the GT, GTS and Touring Car.
